What Is So Fascinating About Paper Quilling?
Here is what Milo Go Lim has to say about it. and it's true.....
5 Things To Love About Paper Quilling
By Milo Go Lim
Imagine the amazing artwork that is created with a set of paper strips!
Paper quilling is an art that employs the technique of rolling, coiling, crimping and fringing paper strips using a "quilling" tool. It is then glued together to form a pattern or design. Though it is less popular compared to other craft hobbies such as scrapbook, origami, cross stitch, or candle making, quilling has its own warm appeal.
Shown below are the five (5) things to love about this fascinating paper craft:
1) I LOVE PAPER QUILLING BECAUSE IT'S EASY.
Reason: Unlike other paper crafts, quilling is very easy to learn. All you need to do is master the basic techniques and make sure to create uniform sizes. With this in mind, you'll be an expert in no time!
2) I LOVE PAPER QUILLING BECAUSE IT'S ECONOMICAL.
Reason: All you need to start are paper sheets, a quilling tool and glue. It is best you cut your own strips so you can customize your design and avoid too much paper spoilage along the way. You can either buy a quilling tool or improvise by using a long needle or any thin piece of metal. Just make sure you can roll the paper strips easily. Quick drying glue is advisable and preferably in a fine tip container. Another useful tool is the circle template board; you can improvise by using push pins to make uniform sizes of circles.
3) I LOVE PAPER QUILLING BECAUSE IT'S ANYBODYS ART.
Reason: It is anbodys art, literally! As long as you have steady hands and good eyesight, you can do this craft. There's no need to be a genius and no lessons required just your patience and imagination. And with a portable storage kit you can do this craft just about anywhere!
4) I LOVE PAPER QUILLING BECAUSE IT'S A GREAT WAY TO DE-STRESS.
Reason: It is a relaxing and therapeutic form of art. Everybody has their own level of creativity. This is beneficial to people who have a hard time expressing themselves in words and an uplifting activity to those who are feeling low. There are already classes being held employing quilling as an art therapy.
5) I LOVE PAPER QUILLING BECAUSE IT'S STIMULATES THE BRAIN.
Reason: Quilling is also a good brain exercise for the left and the right side of the brain are both stimulated. For kids, the most obvious benefit is it helps build motor and cognitive skills. For adults, the most positive benefit is it lowers stress and anxiety. Since it is time-consuming, qualities like patience and mental focus is developed as well.
In conclusion, paper quilling is an extraordinary paper craft because not only is it very simple to learn and make, it is also an art that is beneficial to our mind, body and heart, regardless of age or gender. It is embodies the phrase " Freedom of Expression."

Handmade by ST's Second Kid's Quilling Class Project. 8/6/2013
Today, we had the honour of hosting a class for a family. As usual, the class was dragged to another 30 mins overtime. But it was worth it as the kids had so much fun and the mothers too. All I can say was that it was such a great time spent, to bond with the kids. This is something that they can still continue to do at home, spending quality time at home without the modern day gadgets.
Thank you for the wonderful time. I really had fun teaching you all.
